LIGHTWEIGHT DRILLING MODULES
Client: Oil Search Limited
Application: ZJ50DB drill rigs
TENSA designed and built a helicopter portable solids control system for use with Oil Search’s ZJ50DB drill rigs. The system achieved a 30% reduction in the number of modules from 20 to 14 whilst maintaining total pit capacity.
GRIPPING AND LIFTING
BOP Lift Frame
TENSA designed and built a splittable BOP Lift Frame with a 40T lifting capacity. The frame was constructed in accordance with API Spec C standards and included a surface treatment of the frame, all in a 5 week time frame.
Pipe in Pipe Clamp
TENSA supplied pipe-in-pipe wedges to support the weight of the inner 8” pipe by clamping to the outer 12” pipe which was supported externally during application.
TENSA designed and built Type C Safety Clamp for a SWL of 100t with a designed Factor of Safety against sliding of 1.5.
TENSA provided Technip with the hire of telescopic gangway to facilitate offshore personnel transfer between tug vessel and barges during Prelude Project Campaign 2 offshore operations.
DYNAMIC MOTION SYSTEM
Client: Teekay Shipping (Australia)
Application: Dampier Spirit FSO
Teekay Shipping (Australia) recently purchased TENSA DMS Mini motion monitoring system for use on the FSO Dampier Spirit located approximately 40 km off the coast from Karratha.
Teekay, the operator of Dampier Spirit will use the DMS for general motion monitoring and as a backup for their Helideck Motion System (HMS). Having TENSA’s DMS Mini allows Teekay to continue to maintain safe helicopter operations to the facility without any interruption. Teekay initially rented the DMS but were so impressed with the ease of use and functionality that within a few days they decided to buy the unit.
Client: Cooper Energy
Application: Ocean Monarch Oil Rig
Cooper Energy hired TENSA DMS Mini complete with its full monitoring software application for their offshore operations on the Ocean Monarch rig.
TENSA DMS is especially useful to monitor heave velocity, pitch and roll for Cooper Energy’s operations in Bass Strait renowned for its consistent long period swells coming from the Southern Ocean. Data was easily logged, reviewed and emailed to allow critical decisions to be made when the rig motions approached workability limits.
Client: Norwegian based company providing offshore personnel transfer solutions
Application: Dynamic Motion System (DMS)
The company purchased TENSA DMS Mini for measuring vessel heave velocity, pitch and roll to determine if conditions are suitable for personnel transfer.
Client: Keppel Fels
N-class Jack-up Drilling Rig Project
Tensa provided RS400 Conductor Tensioner Units (CTUs) for the Keppel Fels ultra high specification jack-up drilling rig, the KFELS N Plus.
Client: Keppel Fels
Super B-Class Jack-Up Drilling Rig Project
TENSA was contracted to provide Conductor Tensioning System (CTU) and Secondary Tensioner Unit, RS300-60 CTU & PT200 STU to Keppel Fels’ B378 Super B-class jack-up drilling rig Project.
TENSA was contracted to provide Drillmec a portable jacking system to provide an extra pull of total 230 metric tonnes (500,000 lbs).
Top Tensioning System
TENSA was contracted to provide Drillmec a 80T BOP Top Tensioning System to provide a maximum pull tension of 80 metric tonnes (176.4 kips) to the BOP and the drilling conductor system.
DYNAMIC LOAD REDUCERS
Client: Paragon Offshore
Rig Noble Ed Holt
Paragon Offshore completed its purchase of a TENSA DLR 60L for its offshore operations in India.
Instead of renting the DLR on a project basis, Paragon Offshore saw an immediate and long term need to purchase the DLR. The DLR will be used to reduce the crane dynamic loads for its heavy lifts and to ensure uninterrupted crane operations during heavy weather due to the monsoon season in the area.
Client: IOS and Thiess
Victorian Desalination Project
Tensa provided a DLR 250 for lifting of many components of the intake straucture weighing up to 220 tonnes. The system included the Dynamic Lift System that uses gas to allow a quick lift from the vessel deck.
Lifting Xmas tree on Transocean Legend
Transocean purchased a DLR70 to give greater crane capacity allowing the rig to lift assembled xmas trees.
Client: Columbia Power
Columbia Power’s Brilliant Expansion (BRX) Generating Station
TENSA were contracted to supply a solution to reduce the dynamic load on the maintenance crane at Columbia Power’s Brilliant Expansion (BRX) Generating Station to within the acceptable crane manufacturer standards in Canada. We designed a DLR60 module when lifting the stop logs in order to reduce the dynamic load caused by the wave action.
